In his series of films entitled Symphonic Cinema, filmmaker Lucas van Woerkum brilliantly captures various compositions in his special way in narrative film images with live music. With his impressionist music for this ballet, Ravel gave beautiful shape to the sensual and sultry atmosphere of the ancient Greek shepherd's idyll. In Van Woerkum's interpretation, the search for true love is hampered by the fact that Chloé loses herself in outward show and narcissism. It is up to Daphnis to make Chloé realise that there is a vulnerable and loving person hiding under her mask.
