Over 44,000 tickets have already been sold for the new theatre season at De Maaspoort in Venlo since May. This is the highest number on 1 September in the past 16 years.
The biggest differences compared to previous years can be seen in the Family, Musical and Theatre genres. On 4 October 2022, De Maaspoort was the first theatre in the Netherlands to make tickets free for children. Partly thanks to this policy, four times more tickets have now been sold for family shows in this first period than usual. The most popular names are Pietje Bell (extra performance added), the picture book festival, Mega Mindy and Bing (extra performance added).
Musical is successful thanks to the big popular musical productions Grease, Mamma Mia!, Piaf, The Hospita and Jesus Christ Superstar. Within the Theatre genre, a rise of successful theatre lectures focused on (mental) health can be seen.
Pre-sales run from May to September. The following performances are already sold out: Van der Laan and Woe, #PERFECT, Youp van 't Hek, Dai Carter, Murder in Bristro de Luif (extra performances added), Jochem Myjer, Bouke rocks Elvis. The programme includes 200 performances in a wide variety of genres.
