Maaspoort in Venlo has reached the milestone of 100,000 tickets sold for the 2026–2027 theatre season. The lucky ticket, number one hundred thousand, went to Karin from Baarlo. She bought tickets for the musical We Will Rock You, which is running at Maaspoort this week until Sunday and brings the theatre season to a festive close. During her visit, Karin was surprised with the ‘Begin bij SIN’ package and a festive bouquet. A photo of the moment was taken on stage, amidst the set of *We Will Rock You*, together with the entire cast of the musical.
It is fitting that this milestone coincides with this particular production. *We Will Rock You* brings Queen’s music to the Venlo stage, in a grand and exuberant style – exactly the sort of evening that draws people out of their homes. What is particularly special is that this is the second year running that Maaspoort has reached the magic 100,000 mark. A few years ago, ticket sales were still around 60,000 per theatre season. In just a few years, that figure has risen by more than half.
“One hundred thousand times, someone chose to come through our doors. That’s what we do it for. Especially when we’ve managed to achieve this for two theatre seasons in a row. Venlo is showing that culture matters, and we’re proud of that,” says director Leon Thommassen.
With the 2026–2027 season drawing to a close, Maaspoort is already looking ahead. The programme for the new season is ready and ticket sales have now begun; until 1 September, ticket buyers will receive an early-bird discount on most performances.
