Vibrant music and exciting time travel
In the comic opera 'Orphée aux Enfers', Jacques Offenbach gives the classical myth a satirical twist. Eurydice rejects her bourgeois life and travels with her lover Pluto to the underworld. The gods, bored with their lives, decide to follow Eurydice, which leads to an extravagant, joyous and liberating celebration.
Director Benjamin Prins sets the opera, full of effervescent music, in antiquity, but also makes a trip to the eighteenth century. Sung in French, Dutch and English surtitles.
