Sit back and be surprised by a gripping performance
Fred Delfgaauw and Ida van Dril have adapted Shakespeare's age-old fairy tale 'King Lear' into a very basic and quirky version. It is not necessary to know the story. In fact, they have reduced it to its essence: the struggle with getting older, caring, dealing with disappointments, pride and finally being able to let go. The man who has lost everything must bend or crack. Does the lost child manage to win back her father after a torn relationship? In the tangle of everyday life, no. Perhaps through the wicked fairy tale 'King Lear'.
Where the jester is king, the blind see and love is conditional. The lie rules and everything gives way to the truth. The king says: 'Nothing seems what it is'. The jester: 'Nothing is what it seems'. Sit back and be surprised by a gripping performance.
